CITB 1 Day Health and Safety Awareness (HSA)

Course Overview

This 1 day CITB Site Safety Plus course provides a practical summary of health and safety, welfare and environmental issues identifying the responsibilities of individual’s and others. It identifies employer’s duties and what should be done if anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk and it highlights potential hazards when working on site, providing practical advice on keeping the individual and others safe.

Who should attend

This is the first step towards obtaining a CSCS Labourers (Green) Card and to the progressive CITB Site Safety Plus suite of courses that range from training for operatives to supervisors and managers into the industry up to senior manager / director. The course is suitable for those who have entered, or are about to enter construction and or civil engineering.

Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date. Progression route to SSSTS, £50.00 CITB grant available for qualifying individuals

Course Contents

  • Understand the need to prevent accidents
  • Have an understanding of Health and Safety Law
  • Identify how their role fits into the control and management of the site
  • Understand the need for risk assessments and method statements
  • Appreciate the need to perform safely and to stop and ask for advice when not sure
  • Feel obliged to report unsafe acts to prevent accidents
